Filling the Void/Day One
Hello! And welcome to a new venture for me, and hopefully an entertaining and perhaps useful resource for you - my new blog, Adrian Learns.
I can imagine a few potent questions from your side of things, particularly if you know me - why start a blog? What's it gonna be about? And, to quote the It's Always Sunny Crew, "what's the angle? But who versus?"
First of all, and most cinically, it's a ploy - a way to sell myself to future employers who may want to know more about me, and for whom these posts will lend "credibility" and "flesh out my character." Beyond that, since I'm pretty much constantly learning something or the other, and in a deliberate and often-organized fashion, I thought I'd try to squeeze more juice from the fruit, and document my efforts. And finally, it seems like a fun and useful exercise to start a website - I may need to do so for a company or business some day, and the stakes literally could not be lower, with a current viewership of Bagel (get it? Zero. Nobody's here, I'm typing this by myself alone in a room, and for myself)
And finally, as to the content, the premise is simple - what have I learned, and how can I convey that to ye in a concise, intelligible, and potentially useful way? That's the challenge, and what I view as the fun element. For example, right now I'm learning about the history of Kölsch brewing in Germany, about Data Analysis with Python, and about the nooks and crannies of cooking at home - how can I relay useful insights about these, particularly the thornier, more technical elements of my learning passions and furies? That remains to be seen. Wish me luck!
