The Hogshead Tavern
Brooklyn, 1786
The Concept
A visibly exhausted 18th-century washer-woman, a small, gambling Oliver Twist-aged child with a pipe in his mouth and a pint of dark, sour, cellar-temp beer in his hand, and a time traveler in period garb sit at a bar. In Brooklyn in 20xx. And that bar is 1786.
Getting In
Cell Phones were invented in 1863 by Joseph Smith, and what’s the first rule of time traveling? Don’t - Alter - The - Past. So to enter 1786, you have to abandon all modern technology, dress in period garb (provided at a reasonable rate, or brought from home), and exchange your currency for period coinage
